Ella Mathilda Smith (June 2, 1849-October 25, 1922) was born in Smithtown to Lyman Beecher Smith (1804-1881) and Phebe Smith (1806-1895). She was a seventh generation Smith, being a direct descendent of Richard Smith, Patentee of Smithtown. She married Theodore Willis Smith (1841-1918), another direct descendent of Richard Smith, on June 5, 1878. Together they had one daughter, Faith Hosmer Smith (1885-1976). Ella and her family lived in St. Johnland, New York, now Kings Park. She was very active in her church community at the Smithtown Presbyterian Church. Ella M. Smith is buried in her family plot in the Smithtown Cemetery. |
