Myron Wurts Miller (1912-1977) served as Supervising Principal of the Hauppauge school system from 1943, until his retirement in 1968, when he was named the district's first Superintendent of Schools. His collection of personal papers includes newspaper clippings, newsletters, newspaper supplements, correspondence, announcements, programs, yearbooks, and photographs depicting his personal life, professional career, and Hauppauge schools. |

Myron Wurts Miller (September 18, 1912-October 6, 1977) married Esther Frumerie (May 3, 1910-August 5, 2002) on June 16, circa 1935. The couple had two sons, Myron, Jr. (1937-2018) and Paul (1947-2023). Myron Miller accepted a position as a supervising principal at an elementary school in Hauppauge, New York, in 1943. Miller served in that capacity for 25 years until his retirement in 1968. Over the course of his tenure, Miller was instrumental in the expansion of the Hauppauge school system, taking it from one sixty-pupil elementary school building to seven modern structures serving close to six thousand students. Miller was named Hauppauge's first Superintendent of Schools after his retirement. In addition to his important work in the Hauppauge school system, Myron Miller was also active in a number of community organizations including the Hauppauge Chapter of the Suffolk County Heart Fund, the Fire Department, the Mr. and Mrs. Club, the Lions Club and the Hauppauge Methodist Church. |
