Faith Hosmer Smith (June 22, 1883-December 19, 1976) was born in Kings Park, New York to Ella M. Smith (1849-1922) and Theodore W. Smith (1841-1918). She was an eighth generation Smith, being a direct descendent of Richard Smith, Patentee of Smithtown. As an active member of the Smithtown community, she was a trustee of the Smithtown Cemetery Association, Smithtown Board of Education, and the Society for Lending Comforts to the Sick. She was also a trustee, charter member, and former treasurer of the Smithtown Historical Society. Additionally, Faith was a Sunday school teacher at the Smithtown Presbyterian Church. She is buried in her family plot in the Smithtown Cemetery. |
