"William "Willie" Collier (1864-1944) was one of the earliest vaudeville actors to reside in St. James. The area at one time was even known as Collierville for the [sic] all the actors who owed their arrival in St. James to Willie. Collier starred in such successes as On the Quiet (1901-1902), Twirly Whirly (1902-1903), and Caught in the Rain (1906-1907). Both as an actor and screenwriter, Collier was active in filmmaking in Hollywood for three decades. Collier was the stepfather of Willie "Buster" Collier Jr. (1902-1987), who had a successful movie career alongside his stepfather during the 1920s and 1930s." Fleming, Geoffrey K. St. James.
